Teen faces charges after fatal crash
CROSS PLAINS, Wis. (AP) - A 17-year-old boy is suspected of driving drunk or drugged in a Dane County crash last night that killed a girl who was his passenger.
The 17-year-old girl from Spring Green died at the scene in Cross Plains.
Sheriff's authorities say the boy crossed the center line on Highway 14 and hit another vehicle head-on.
The boy and a woman driving the other car were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators say alcohol, drugs, speed and slippery road conditions were factors in the crash.

first off mytake4u.... come on i feel 19 is a bit out of reach... we teens are new drivers and accidents happen, but people seem to pick out the teen accidents and rip apart the teens not the adults. Secondly i feel drunk driving is a major problem in society that needs to be worked on asap... much much stiffer consequences are needed, and yes i do feel that with certain consequences, drunk driving will decrease

it is a fact that older (late 50s and up) cause more accidents then any other ages.how about a law saying every 2 years after 50 you need a driving road test to see if they can still handle a car.but no, the ones who pass the laws are old themselves and besides we dont like the government infringing on our rights.teens are new drivers and i hate to say it but as they learn accidents will happen.but at least they have the hand eye coordination, quick reflexes, and mental awareness to learn to be good drivers soon.its a terrible fact that car accidents can kill reguardless of age and its even sadder when it takes a young life.my heart goes out to both families involved in this.

hey truth1. you are spot on! CHILDREN under 19 should not be issued a drivers license. one of the few exception would be for someone serving in the armed forces. many parents would disagree because they can use the 16 year old to run the younger children to all their social and school events. let's take control people of wisconsin and pass a new age limit. and it is a PURE and TRUE fact that cars kill many more children and adults than guns in HUMAN hands.

I just do not understand why Wisconsin and/or the whole country doesn't do more to fight drunk driving. I used to know someone who has 3 dwi's in Wisconsin, ran to California to get away from his problems more or less, got at least 1 out there. For his 3rd in Wisconsin, he got a month of work release and fines. THAT'S IT! I'm sure for his 4th overall/1st in California, he got a slap on the wrist. How many more people have to die? When will something be done?

I'm sure there are many people that are not aware of the fact that more people are killed/injured with motor vehicles here in the U.S. than are killed/injured with guns..."Gun control" people that are interested in curbing death and destruction need to switch their mantra to something that would do MUCH more good such as "car and driver control"

I also think it's rediculous the number of people of all ages who don't wear seatbelts. Don't they realize that you are much safer restrained IN the vehicle than flying OUT of it???

Not all teens drink and do drugs Teeber. So don't attack just us for it. There are adults that drink and do drugs and drive. So why not say " when are people going to learn "

Please...we are in Wisconsin. You can drive drunk, kill someone and spend less time in prison than someone on a 3rd offense DUI in Michigan. 3rd offense in Michigan is a felony, with minimum sentence of 3 years in state prison. hmmmmm... WI 3rd offense is what maybe 120 days county jail, w/huber & good behavior???

Unfortunately, it's not just teens that don't get it. How many people are still being picked up for DUI, DWI, and such for the 5th, 6th, 10th time? I wish we could all come together to come up with a sure fire way to keep drunks off the road, because personal responsibility sure as hell doesn't work.
