JANESVILLE The Janesville School Board held a closed meeting Tuesday to evaluate the performance of Superintendent Tom Evert.

"The board continues to be very pleased with Dr. Evert’s leadership in promoting student learning and achievement and gave him high marks for the district’s accomplishments from November of 2006 to December 2007," according to a news release from board President Debra Kolste.

The review did not include any change in Evert’s compensation package. That topic will come up one year from now.

Dr. Bette Lang is the Superintendent of the Stevens Point School District and she has the respect of the community and the Stevens Point School Board.

Janesville is lucky to have the services of Dr. Evert. He is acknowledged as an educational leader in the state. His compensation is in line with admistrators in similar size districts in Wisconsin. Unlike the teaching staff, he works year around.

So you mean to say that BlackIrish and Krb52 that you would rather use your tax $$ to increase his salary (now currently 144,150 plus 45,000 in benefits; you can find this information to be true on DPI's website) and allow him to initiate programs w/o funding than to pay teachers to develop the minds of children? Wow, to think, you probably expect good teachers to stay in Janesville, for what...possible summer employment at GM?? Oh, I forget, they have a 2-week shut down..again, teachers off in the summer. I suggest, take some $$ from the administration and apply toward the teachers. This is a win-win, teachers keep what they are asking for and we the tax payers pay no more as we are taking a little back from overpaid administration!

We are fortunate to have Tom Evert as a superintendent and as an intelligent and caring community leader. I hope he stays here for many more years. Thanks for all that you do for Janesville, Tom.

BlackIrish:
There you are again speaking unintelligently! How about getting someone in here that doesn't make$200,000 a year to sneak things in after budget cuts!

When the superintendent lets the council do the things it has done lately no wonder the council in "closed door" meetings gives him high praise.
