Possible tornado heading toward Walworth County
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning at 3:25 p.m. for Walworth County. According to police scanner traffic, a strong storm that could produce a tornado was near Machesney Park, Ill., and heading toward Sharon.
Radar indications are the storm is getting stronger and has the potential to produce a funnel cloud, said Lt. Kevin Williams, Walworth County emergency management coordinator.
The storm was expected to enter Sharon about 3:35 p.m., Walworth, Fontana and the Geneva Lake area by 3:45 p.m. and the Lake Geneva, Genoa City area by 3:55 p.m.
The courtroom of the Mark Jensen murder trial being held in Walworth County was cleared moments ago due to the warning being issued.
The storm could produce a tornado, damaging winds and hail, according to police broadcasting the National Weather Service warning.
Walworth and Williams Bay fire firefighters were dispatched to their stations to standby.
