Rural Janesville woman dies in crash
A rural Janesville woman died in a two-car crash on Highway 26 just northeast of Janesville shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Department reports that Faye Snyder, 77, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Snyder was trying to turn south onto Highway 26 from Bingham Road when her car was hit by a car headed north on 26, said Sgt. Jason Harding of the sheriff’s department.
The driver of the other car, 33 year-old Noe Ayala of Janesville, was treated and released at Mercy Hospital.
“Milton Fire and EMS extricated Snyder and initiated CPR,” according to a sheriff’s department news release. “Both operators were wearing safety belts, and both vehicles’ airbags deployed. Speed and alcohol are not suspected as contributing factors. It is not anticipated that any charges or citations will be issued.”
Harding said that fog also was not considered a factor in the crash.
