At least one person has been killed in a 30-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 90/39 outside of Madison, the Associated Press is reporting.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the highway has been shut down in both directions, and cars are backed up for 5 miles.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says a series of collisions happened in dense fog just north of Interstate 90’s intersection with state Highway 12 on Madison's far east side.

The state patrol is advising drivers to use other routes.
