I'm sorry, but WRECKS caused by driving too fast for conditions, excessive speed, alcohol and drug use etc. etc. etc. are definitely NOT "accidents"......When someone dies in these cases, someone KILLED them.

The main difference between the two words is "compassion". Most people do not plan to be in an accident. Every accident takes place because a series of events has occurred. A deer in the road, a driver over correcting or getting caught on a low shoulder tries to pull it out but ends up crossing traffic and being hit by a truck killing his two children in the back seat. Take out any one of those events and the outcome could be completely different thus prompting the term "accident".
You can go out an "WRECK" all the cars you would like but the rest of us will continue to show compassion for those involved in an "accident".
Also, thank you for pointing out the statistics comparing motor vehicle "accidents" and "GUN WRECKS".

Everything has a "cause" even ACCIDENTS.
ACCIDENT: "Unexpected happening." (Webster)
"Cause" is not part of the definition.

Lets get out of the habit of calling them "accidents" all the time...There is usually someone that CAUSES wrecks, so lets call them what they usually are ......WRECKS that someone CAUSED....More violent crime with injury is committed in the U.S. with motor vehicles than is committed with guns.
