A January thaw threatens to destroy a snowmobiler's paradise.

Warm weather and rain over the weekend could bring a halt to activity on trails in Rock County.

Levi Olson of the Snowmobile Alliance of Rock County says for the first time in years, they received a good snow base in December. Temperatures over the weekend were predicted to hit the 40's and that, along with rain, would effectively end all snowmobile activity in the county.

Olson says signs are posted throughout the county indicating the trails are closed if temperatures reach 34 degrees.

I know a guy who called in and said there was a death in family.....the snow is dying. Best trails we have had here in years. Hats off to the clubs and groomers who have made this year a success for us so far. Lets hope this is nothing more than a warm up and we go back to snow and cold.
