Two Supreme Court candidates top spring election ballot
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - No challengers to the two candidates for state Supreme Court are expected to emerge before today's filing deadline.
Incumbent Justice Louis Butler submitted the required signatures on December 27. Challenger Burnett County Circuit Judge Michael Gableman was planning to turn his in this afternoon.
The deadline for candidates to file the required signatures and paperwork to get on the ballot is 5 p.m.
Last week a third candidate, Sun Prairie attorney Charlie Schutze, announced that he was dropping his campaign due to health concerns. Schutze has not submitted the required signatures and will not appear on the ballot.
The primary is February 19 and the general election is April 1.
