Tennessee holds off Wisconsin in Outback Bowl
Tyler Donovan's last pass as a Wisconsin Badger was intercepted in the end zone, and Tennessee held off Wisconsin to win today's Outback Bowl, 21-17, in Tampa, Fla.
Wisconsin fell behind 21-7 in the first half as its defense had trouble stopping Tennessee. The Badgers scored before the half and trailed 21-14 at the break.
Wisconsin's defense stiffened in the second half, and the Badgers got within 21-17. Wisconsin had a fourth-and-2 deep in Tennessee territory with about 6 minutes left, and coach Bret Bielema decided to go for the first down. Donovan's scramble ended with an incomplete pass.
Wisconsin blocked a Tennessee field goal to get the ball back with less than 2 minutes to go. The Badgers moved to the Volunteer 36 before Donovan threw the interception with about 30 seconds to go.
Wisconsin finshed the season 9-4.
