Shooting suspect ordered to stand trial
One of two teens accused of firing handguns in an incident in the Janesville YMCA parking lot on Jan. 19 was bound over for trial this afternoon.
A Rock County court commissioner found that Andrew D. Moronez, 16, of 1042 Center Ave., Janesville, probably committed a felony.
Moronez and another 16-year-old—Gregory P. Krukar of 230 N. Grant St., Janesville—were previously waived into adult court.
Krukar’s attorney asked for time to prepare for his preliminary hearing, and Court Commissioner Stephen Meyer granted a postponement.
Krukar and Moronez each face three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment involving a weapon and one count each of endangering safety by reckless use of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person younger than 18.
The 18-year-old who was wounded in the incident testified at Moronez’s hearing. The Janesville Gazette will have more details in Saturday’s paper.

I think everyone did stop talking about this. In fact it's been over a month, until you just brought it up now. Trying to get something started again?

how about this, i think that everyone should just stop talking their crap because no one knows anyone of these kids other then their families and friends, how about you let the court system decide what their going to do with these boys. do you really think talking about all this is going to make it better? what and how do you think their family and friends are handling this? its not easy knowing that your friend or family member did this.. how about you just keep your comments to your self:)

give them as much hard time as the law will allow. probation is nothing more than a badge of honor for these punks. they laugh at the system that gives them probation and then walk around school/town with their chests out and act big and bad. all the girls think they are cool and it just encourages more anti-social behavoir that the parents are either unable or unwilling to control.make them cry in front of their punk friends and beg not to go to prison. that will make them uncool to everyone. one of these punks got smart with me once and i made him cry and sent him home to his momma. not very bad without a weapon or 4 or 5 punk friends. just open hand slap them a cpl times and they cry!!!!

Book 'em, Danno. Good on the Janesville PD for catching these guys, and figuring out the gang angle. Putting both of them in prison for 10-20 years will serve as a good example for any other gang wanna-be's.

And I should add, sometimes police just don't know, and the suspects won't tell them.

Excellent question, Seabass. I don't have the answer. As with most matters criminal, we (the public, including the news media) don't get all the facts from the start. The facts trickle out, and we report them as we get them. Sometimes, the police intentionally hold back facts for investigative purposes, and with good reason. You will notice that the 16-year-olds face charges that include possession of a dangerous weapon by a person younger than 18, so the authorities certainly have taken note. If and when the Gazette finds out, we'll print it, on paper and online. --Reporter Frank Schultz
