MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Democratic leader of the state Senate says there's still plenty of time to pass a bill fixing the $650 million budget shortfall and find compromise on a statewide smoking ban.

The Senate is scheduled to end its work for the year in a couple weeks.

But Majority Leader Russ Decker of Weston says there aren't any proposals pending that are so complicated they can't get done this year.

Decker says he's been working with Gov. Jim Doyle on a solution to the budget shortfall. But Decker says he doesn't know yet what the governor will propose.

Decker also says the Senate will pass the Great Lakes Compact and other economic development proposals before it adjourns.
