Sheiffer gets 3 percent raise
Janesville City Manager Steve Sheiffer received a 3 percent raise at his annual review during closed session Monday.
Sheiffer recently announced he is retiring Sept. 2, although he may leave earlier depending on remaining vacation days.
The 3 percent is an additional $4,297 a year, putting his salary at $147,518.
He also receives a $5,000 car allowance.
In addition, the council agreed to buy back any unused sick days up to 100 days at $25 per day for a maximum of $2,500.
“The council evaluated the city manager,” said George Brunner, council president. “The council was satisfied with the manager’s performance.”

Wait until the new city manager gets here. They are already spending a ton of money just to find someone. How much do you think the new one is going to want?
