Report on I-90/39 backup expected Thursday
MADISON -– The Wisconsin National Guard is scheduled to discuss the state’s response to a traffic backup that left thousands of motorists stranded in a snowstorm for as long as 12 hours.
National Guard Brig. Gen. Don Dunbar will discuss the findings at an 11 a.m. news conference Thursday in Madison. The 164-page report will also be available online.
Gov. Jim Doyle asked Dunbar to develop the report in response to the storm two weeks ago that dumped as much as a foot of snow.
A number of semi trucks got stuck on a hill, causing miles of traffic to back up for hours.

Jim Doyle was part of the problem that day. The State refused to close any State offices that day. Think of the thousand's of State employees that were on the road in southern Wisconsin trying to get home that evening. The State should have set an example for other's by sending nonessential emploees home. Instead, the State insisted on business as usual, and in the proccess endangered many people and added to the traffic problems.

Why should any of us be surpised that our illustrious Gov. is wasting time on a Mayor Quimby like "Fact Finding Mission". After all, it's not like this state has other problems that would be much more easily solveable.

there is an electronic signboard at the WI-illinois border. It should have urged trucks and all motorists to get off the highway and wait out the storm. Add a new signboard at janesville that would send the message that the road is blocked. get off highway, get a hotel room, eat supper and wait till conditions improve.
