UPDATE: Snowmobilers identified
The snowmobilers who fell through the ice on Lake Koshkonong around 11 a.m. have been identified as Daniel Nelson, 65, Beloit and his son, Gregory Nelson, 43, Darien.
They said they had been following marked snowmobile trails to Charlie Bluff and were trying to locate the trail again on the north side of the lake when they drove onto thin ice near the mouth of the Rock River, the Rock County Sheriff's Deparment said in a news release.
They were able to pull themselves out of the water and onto the ice where they waited for rescuers. Both were off the ice at 11:30AM. Neither was injured.
The snowmobiles will remain in the lake until they can be safely removed, the release said.
