ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) - Closing arguments are underway today in the trial of Mark Jensen.

A prosecutor told the jury this morning that the defense's assertion that his wife committed suicide to frame him is ridiculous and not plausible.

Prosecutor Robert Jambois says Mark Jensen gave Julie Jensen sleeping pills in the days before her 1998 death so he could give her multiple doses of an element that causes a terrible death and isn't typically found in autopsies.

Jensen is accused of poisoning her, then smothering her with a pillow when she didn't die fast enough.

He was charged in 2002 with first-degree intentional homicide. But legal wrangling over evidence delayed the trial.

The 48-year-old Mark Jensen could face a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole if convicted.
