Sheriff's department issues alert
From the Rock County Sheriff's Department:
DANGEROUS ROADS WITH FREEZING RAIN, HEAVY SNOW, AND FLOODED ROADS IN SOME ROCK COUNTY AREAS.
The Sullivan Weather Service is currently reporting rain and/or freezing rain for all areas in Rock County. Additionally, a heavy snow will be moving into our area beginning late morning to early afternoon. The majority of our snow accumulations will be completed by early evening, but light snow may continue until midnight. Total snow accumulations for today, by it’s conclusion at midnight, are expected to be two-six inches.
Currently temperatures are right at the freezing point and with the additional rain and lower temperatures expected, the roadways in Rock County are anticipated to be icy and slippery in locations. Furthermore, with the recent rain and warmer temperatures, some roadways in Rock County are experiencing flooding and/or standing water on them.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is urging citizens to minimize their travel plans and to be cognizant of today’s changing weather forecasts, and make appropriate travel plans accordingly. We want all citizens to safe.
