ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) - Mark Jensen won't take the witness stand to defend himself against charges that he fatally poisoned and smothered his wife in 1998.

Jensen quietly answered yes'' when Judge Bruce Schroeder asked him Thursday if he had enough time to talk to his lawyer and truly did not want to take the stand.

Jensen's trial is winding down as defense lawyers contend that Julie Jensen, 40, committed suicide and tried to frame her husband for murder. Prosecutors allege Mark Jensen poisoned his wife with antifreeze before suffocating her at their Pleasant Prairie home on Dec. 3, 1998.

Mark Jensen, now 48, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide.

Prosecutors are expected to end rebuttal testimony Friday and jurors will likely receive instructions before breaking for the weekend.
