Poor driving conditions on county and town roads
Melting snow and slush combined with new and drifting snow are creating poor driving conditions on town and county roads, the Rock County Sheriff's Department announced at 4 p.m.
U.S. and state highways are still in good driving condition, though light snow is causing reduced visibility on Interstate 90/39 and Interstate 43, the news release said.
The department expects the melting snow to freeze this evening, resulting in poor driving conditions throughout the county. Motorists should avoid travel if possible, the release said.
According to the National Weather Service, brisk winds and cold temperatures will result in wind chill values between minus 30 and minus 45 degrees.

rexkramer Wake up and realize these plow drivers have to sleep sometime . Thet cannot operate 24/7 to keep all roads open . They go out at 3:00am and stay out until 6/7 pm . The county is out of salt so don't blame the drivers . They are doing the best they can ! The County does try to keep the State highways open at all times but sometimes that is not possible . I've watched them plow a road and have it Drift right back .If You listen to the news, read the paper or listen to the radio they warn well in advance to stay off the roads because they are going to get bad . Follow the rules of the road for a change !

Perhaps if a Rock County plow/salt truck was capable of operating after 7pm on nights like this the roads would be a shade less treacherous. I sure wish I got the same amount of flexibility with when I could pay my property taxes as the county seems to have with providing the services I've allegedly paid for.
