TB case confirmed at UW-Whitewater
A case of tuberculosis has been confirmed in a UW-Whitewater student, but students are not at immediate risk, according ot a news release from the university.
The student had only been attending UW-Whitewater since the start of spring semester last month, the release said. The student is now in a local hospital and may return to campus after being medically cleared.
"Please note that there is no immediate risk for persons who may have been exposed during these early weeks of the semester," the release said. "In the unlikely case that tuberculosis develops, it is readily treatable with a regiment of antibiotics."
The university is contacting close contacts of the student, the release said.

There isn't a vaccine for TB, it's bacterial. Many place's of employment do a TB screening test before hiring though.
