Road condition update
From the Rock County Sheriff's Department:
Highways in Rock County are slowing returning to “normal” winter driving conditions. Many secondary roads are still reported to be snow covered and drifted. Rock County Highway Department crews continue to work diligently in their snow removal efforts and ask that the public be patient during the recovery period from this winter storm. Some secondary roads may not be completely open until sometime on Friday, February 8, 2008. The Interstate system within Rock County continues to improve and travel is slowly returning to normal conditions, however motorist should be alert to emergency equipment removing abandon vehicles and snow plowing equipment.
Motorists are asked to use extreme caution when traveling as road condition could change quickly. It is suggested that motorist limit their travel to those trips that are absolutely necessary and should ensure that they have taken proper precautions before venturing onto the highways.
The Sheriff’s Office would ask the public’s continued cooperation during this time of recovery and would like to thank the many emergency personnel that contributed their efforts during this winter storm. Additionally, we would also extend our sincere appreciation to those individuals from the private sector that donated their time and resources to assist in our efforts.
