Plows trying to maintain main streets
Janesville and Rock County snowplows are still attempting to keep main roads clear, officials said.
Rock County plows will remain on Interstate 90/39 throughout the night, as usual, said Gordon Beyerlein of the public works department.
Plow drivers on town, county and state roads will stop at 6 p.m. for rest before resuming at 3 a.m. Thursday, he said.
“Be safe, travel as little as possible,” he said.
City crews are working to maintain passage on main roads, but are not focused on residential streets, said Mandy Bonneville, assistant operations director of the city.
Drivers have touched some residential streets, but it’s been inconsistent, she said.
“With the rate of snowfall, we’re having trouble keeping the main streets passable,” she said. “If you don’t have anywhere to be, just stay home.”
