BELOIT — Police say 17-year-old Fernando Berrios Linarez was fatally wounded in a Beloit shooting Monday.

Captain Bill Tyler says the teen was found around 1:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of Dewey Avenue. The victim passed away while receiving treatment at a local hospital. Linarez was of school age but not attending school at the time of the shooting. He had reportedly recently returned from a visit to Texas.

Police are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. An autopsy is planned for Tuesday in Madison.
