Defense could start this week in Mark Jensen trial
ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) - Defense attorneys for Mark Jensen, who is accused of poisoning and suffocating his wife, should begin their side of the case this week.
Forty-year-old Julie Jensen was found dead in the couple's Pleasant Prairie home on in 1998. Mark Jensen, now 48, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide in 2002. But his trial didn't start until last month because of legal wrangling over the admissibility of evidence.
The trial is expected to last until the end of this month.
The prosecution called its second-to-last witness Friday -- Pleasant Prairie Police Lieutenant Paul Ratzburg. His testimony is expected to continue today.
Prosecutor Robert Jambois says he plans to call one last witness, a computer expert, before resting his case.
Defense attorney Craig Albee will then have the chance to call witnesses. It's unclear whether Mark Jensen would take the stand.
