The Beloit man stabbed with a kitchen knife early this morning is in critical condition at University Hospital, Madison, a hospital spokeswoman said.

James Holzbauer, 29, was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital and then flown to University Hospital after police found him with a stab wound in his neck at about 3 a.m. at 1938 Harrison Ave., Beloit Township, the home of his girlfriend.

The girlfriend, Tanya Y. Greer, 24, was arrested on an initial charge of causing reckless injury, said Sgt. David Dransfield of the Town of Beloit Police Department.

~Hopefully that is easier to read for ya. Sorry to have confused you in the first place.

I'm sure that someone knows the guy in the Santa suit out in California and is saying it was just a practicle joke that got out of hand.

Now I have no idea who these people are but to call this an accident is unreal. Yes maybe it shouldn't have happened and maybe she didn't mean to stab him, but she DID. Drinking and fighting is not a good combination. I've had years and years of experience with it. Thankfully noone was seriously injuried. I hope they did learn their lessons and if they bring out the worst in each other then they decide not to put themselves in this position again. Or the children.

I know them both and it was an accident. I hope they both learn a lesson about drinking!

With our DA's office, there will not be a charge unless the defendant accepts a lenient plea bargain.

It's up to the district attorney to determine what the actual charge will be. The police arrest people on a particular charge, but that doesn't mean that's the charge the DA will choose. Evidence may come in later in the investigation that could mean a more serious or a lesser charge. Or even no charge.

You mean this isn't attempted murder? What did he do walk into the knife so it is reckless Injury?
