Packers' season also disappoints retailers

Green Bay, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers aren't having a great year, and neither are the businesses dependent on them.

Sports apparel manufacturers, hotels and souvenir shops say business is down this year. The bad economy, a losing season and the loss of Brett Favre have all taken their toll.

Jeff Lemieux of Jeff Sports Inc. has stores in Brookfield and Menomonee Falls. He says Packers sales are pretty steady, but "we've had to work a little harder" this year.

Mike Worachek of Coin and Collectibles/Packers City Antiques says he's noticed people going home after games, rather than staying and shopping in Green Bay. He says he normally does good business on a Monday after a win, but there hasn't been a lot of that this year.

He did retire from the Packers. Now they don't have to worry about their chances for the playoffs being spoiled by an interception. :-)

All the Packer fans dissing Favre, should be ashamed of themselves. He is the ONLY reason anyone even noticed the Packers the last decade, without him nothing. He should retire???? What does that say about the whole Packers team? Last I saw the Jets were 9-6 and the Packers 5-9. The Packers would have been fighting for the Playoffs with Favre, instead of fighting to send the Vikings in tonight, and no chance of their own to get there. The Jets are a better team for having Brett Favre and the Packers are a worse one without him.

and what a surprise that good ol Brett ended the Jets' season and hopes for the playoffs with what?? an interception! hahaha...they can have him!Now they can deal with "will he retire or won't he???" And he already started it a few days ago by saying "I'm not sure I'll be back for another season". Just retire old man...you should have stayed retired the first time around!!!!
