One killed in Milton Township crash
The Rock County Sheriff's Office suspects alcohol, speed and slippery road conditions were factors in a crash that killed a Milton woman Saturday night, according to a sheriff's office news release.
Sharon L. Stanford, 45, died after she lost control of her car on Highway 59 north of Jacobs Drive in Milton Township, the release says. Her car slid sideways across the centerline and was struck by a minvan driven by Anita J. Hernandez, 40, Janesville, at about 5:45 p.m.
Stanford suffered massive internal injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m., the release says.
Hernandez was not injured, and no charges were filed against her, the release says.
"The crash remains under investigation at this time, and alcohol, speed and slippery road conditions appeared to be contributing factors on Stanford’s part," the release says.

This is very sad. It hits home with me since almost the exact same thing happened to me. I was not drunk I was not speeding and I did not get hit. But I lost control of my car just outside of town, if another car would have been coming we surely would have collided. I was traveling with my fiance, my 2 year old daughter and my sister who had just got home from college. Very scary and I'm happy nothing happened to us. I'm very sorry that this woman died. My thoughts are with both families, this is the hardest time to lose someone.
