Health department warns of hypothermia risks
From the WCLO newsroom:
If you're not looking forward to a long day of shoveling Friday, the Rock County Health Department has good news.
Acting Health Officer Karen Cain says hypothermia and frostbite can occur even when you're shoveling the sidewalk in temperatures above freezing. She recommends taking frequent breaks to prevent those conditions.
Cain reminds residents to dress in layers, with a hat that covers your ears. She says dizziness, numbness, confusion and skin discoloration can all be signs of frostbite and hypothermia.
