Im glad we finally have our winters back ! 6yrs ago, I kept my son home from school when it snowed one day.It was a great amount, which we had not had for a long time.School was not canceled that day but at the time, as quick as the snow came it was gone too.Was the first time since he was a toddler that I could take him sledding.Im sure I was wrong to take him out of school, but I was also right...it got so warm the next day or 2 the snow melted! His laughter that day was priceless!!!!!!!!!! We had so much fun.

Well, I looked out my fourth-floor windows at 11:59 p.m. and there was no action. I looked again at 12:01 a.m. and I can only see a few yards in front of my face ... that's how fast the snow is coming down at this point. I'd heard they were predicting it to start at midnight. Right on time! I am amazed at what weather forecasters can do these days. One side note, how many snow days did the Janesville Schools build into its schedule this term?

Evert will call it at 6:48 in the morning. Kinda sad, actually. From what my kids tell me some of the teachers had some fun stuff planned for tomorrow and they will miss out on what little bit of "holiday" stuff they are still allowed in public school.

Come on snow, where ARE you? I got gas for the truck, and gas for the blower. I have food for whenever, and wood for the winter. LET'S GO ALREADY!!!
(I'm psychologically prepping myself here, please pay no attention)

Could you imagine the phone calls if the kids were stuck at school and had to sleep on the floor????? Oh my! I think it would have been fun though!

Not to steer people away from Gazette.com, but they're also available at:

with default images so you can figure out if you're looking north or south.

chains---go to weather, click on, line comes up for traffic camera, click on. It is that easy. It is cool, but wish it was live video instead of just pictures but this is good.

I have to give a big thumbs up to the Gazette for posting the highway cameras on their site. This is so very helpful for anyone who routinely drives the stretch between Janesville and Beloit, which I do almost daily. It has already alerted me to a back up once this winter and allowed me to take an alternate route. Nice job Wis DOT and Gazette.

Freezing rain, HEAVY SNOW predicted starting late this afternoon. This has been told to us already. Beloit School District already cancelling sporting events. When will the Janesville School District make the decision if our children participating in out of town sporting events will be safe. Pretty sure State Patrol has already stated "If you do not need to be on the road, stay home".
