Rock County Sheriff's Winter Emergency Plan in effect
From the WCLO newsroom:
The Rock County Sheriff's Office is preparing for Thursday's impending winter storm with its Winter Emergency Plan.
The plan has three phases. Level Three is in effect now, and includes planning and directing personnel for the anticipated increase in law enforcement calls. Authorities will monitor road conditions and weather forecasts, and could declare a Level One response. That includes snowmobiles, four-wheel drive vehicles and partnerships with local snow clubs, National Guard, Red Cross and Emergency Management.
The Sheriff's Office warns motorists to balance the need for travel with personal safety.

I think Level 2 means that they will warn us all of the dangers of snow....ground will be wet when the snow melts, wind may pick up snow and move it to another area, snow may cause headaches dizziness and decrease in siemen. Snow lasting longer than 4 hours can indicate a serious problem so consult your snow removal guy.

All these notices about the storm coming, yet NONE of them are telling us how much snow to expect, just, "Oh a' crapa! ... emergency! Itsa gonna bea bada!!"
--
How about a note telling us how bad it's going to be? Is it, "Eh, 12 inches. Enough to cause concern." or "Oh crap, we're in for four feet!"

Oh for goodness sakes! Entities state their Emergency Plans are in effect and everyone goes into High Panic Mode.
Get over it and do what is the safest for EVERYONE. In other words, if you HAVE to be out... don't think you're invincible and fireball it down the street. The bridges and overpasses, hills and overpasses will be frozen and snow covered first....
Act with a brain! Do everything BEFORE the snow starts and there won't be so much trouble for the Police, Fire, and Ambulance! And, there won't be as many crazy drivers on the road.
For goodness sakes, this panic is reminding me of my days in south Georgia when they anticipated ice two days ahead of time and there were no parking spots at the grocery store!
We live in Wisconsin where, get this, IT SNOWS! Act like it!

Level 3 right now. ok..... Let me check outside.... clear and sunny. Now do we have these levels for summer storms?
On the serious side here I think this plan is good. I truly think we are going to get hard this evening with this storm. However, storms have missed us....
