Garbage, recycling pickup canceled Friday

In anticipation of the approaching snowstorm, the city has canceled garbage and recycling pickup Friday.

Garbage and recycling scheduled for pickup Friday will be picked up Friday, Dec. 26.

The landfill also will be closed Friday but will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Do I detect a tiny bit of animosity here? I mean c'mon, this is something totally new to me. Enmity on a Gazette message board?!?!? Who'd of thought?

mack - does your "truckin" include open vehicle doors, and running around in slop while it's snowing/sleeting/raining while hoisting heavy cans all day long? I can wait a while since the stinky stuff is frozen anyway.

Mack: Um, I think they need the collection employees to help plow snow. Just a hunch. Tuck away your manliness for a bit, eh?

Something similar happened last year. It's the normal "catch-up" schedule, really.

Are you sure about the Dec. 26th date?? Wouldn't people who have collection scheduled on Dec. 25th (Christmas Day) have their trash pickup on Dec. 26th. along with regular scheduled Dec. 26th pickups and now add pickups from Dec.19th.... Hmmmm I think this decisson could have been made in the morning after we see how much snow/freezing rain we get.
