Janesville family to honor missing WWII soldier
JANESVILLE--Janseville resident Randy Grutza and family will go to Milwaukee this week to attend Grutza’s uncle’s funeral.
The uncle, U.S. Army Air Force Cpl. Richard Grutza, was a gunner in a B-25 Mitchell bomber that was shot down in Papua New Guinea during World War II.
A visitation is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Adalbert Cemetery Chapel, 3801 S. 6th St., Milwaukee. Burial with military honors will follow at 11 a.m.
Grutza never knew his uncle, a Milwaukee native, who was killed Dec. 5, 1942.
