After noticing an increase in gun-related incidents, Janesville Police officials are improving their reporting system to highlight those crimes involving guns to better track the information.

Deputy Police Chief Dave Moore says the incidents are not limited to a certain area, but dispersed throughout the city. He says it's important to note guns are involved in only about 24 of 70,000 anticipated police calls in 2008. He says the most common firearm incident is a disturbance, like disorderly conduct or domestic violence.

Moore says a gun is usually displayed in these incidents, and not discharged.

What about motor vehicle related crimes?
.
Motor vehicles account for more death and injury than guns, citywide, statewide, and nationwide.

Excellent work "Zippy". With those kind of math skills you should be running for county treasurer.

70,000 calls for a population of 61,000? That's more than one call for every man, woman, and child in the city. Who's making all these calls? I think they should be calling collect.
