MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A retiring Jefferson County judge takes issue with how the presiding judge and candidate for the state Supreme Court Randy Koschnick manages the office.

Judge John Ullsvick tells The Capital Times in Madison that Koschnick has been very divisive. Ullsvick says he's not seeking re-election because of the way Koschnick assigns the same judges the same types of cases instead of varying the assignments.

Koschnick says his system is more efficient, improving the county's justice system and resulting in faster processing.

State court records show that Jefferson County disposed of nearly 31 percent more cases under the new system in 2007 than it did the previous year.

Koschnick is running against current Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson.

Imagine that! A candidate being criticized. I have never heard of such a thing.
