From the National Weather Service:

The National Weather Service in Milwaukee has issued a winter storm warning for a mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow. The warning is in effect until midnight Tuesday night.

Freezing rain will move into the area this afternoon, mix at times with sleet, then change over to all snow on Tuesday. Ice accumulations could approach 1/4 inch. Roads will become icy as surface road temperatures are well below freezing.

Snow accumulations on Tuesday are expected to fall in the 4 to 6 inch range, before tapering off Tuesday evening.

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Yep I am planning a nice stay at home day tomarrow with my daughter. No sense risking life and limb out there trying to drive her to school. Instead we will be making holiday decorations, working on book reports, and just maybe some cookie baking or maybe fudge...MMMM sounds like the perfect sonw day to me.

Please stay safe everyone.

there is no 'they' who decides whether to close or delay JPS due to weather. Call Dr Evert...it's up to him. You will be told parents may opt to keep their child(ren) home. That does not help district employees, however...and after last winter's fiasco on the interstate, certainly better at home safe than stranded out in nasty weather.

well either way... My point is if the weather is bad enough, they should think of the people who will be out there.

FYI, school board does not cancel or delay school...that decision is up to the superintendent

Well I just hope that the school board thinks of the safety of their students, teachers and parents and cancels school if it gets bad..

Agree, snow over ice. Especially since from what I can see there is no salt on any roads other than the interstate and main highways.

yes to snow instead of ice

And please...if there is a fire hydrant on your terrace...be a good neighbor & keep it well cleared of snow!

I'd rather more snow than the freezing rain.
