Police in the Racine County community of Caledonia asked for help from the public to find the driver involved in a hit-run accident that killed a 22-year-old Illinois man.

According to police, the body of Justin Hammons of South Roxana, Ill., was found just after 2 a.m. Saturday in a frontage road off Interstate 94 in Caledonia.

Police Sgt. Gary Larsen says Hammons was staying in the area and was apparently returning from a tavern. He had a bicycle with him but was not believed to be riding it because it wasn’t damaged and an autopsy indicates he was standing up when hit.

Larsen says the suspect vehicle is believed to be an SUV or pickup truck that could have damage to the front end or undercarriage.

Still unsolved is a hit-run accident in Caledonia on Aug. 7 that killed 57-year-old bicyclist Patricia Blundon of Oak Creek.
