DNR approves ethanol permit
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has approved United Ethanol's request to install a new piece of equipment the plant says will address noise, odor and emission complaints.
The DNR sent a letter dated Thursday saying it will issue a construction permit for United Ethanol to install a new regenerative thermal oxidizer on its Milton site. The plant will then have 90 days to install the new equipment.
The plant came under fire in June when the DNR released a report detailing more than 170 permit violations. But the plant said some of the issues had already been addressed and others didn't apply to the plant.
Plant officials said the new RTO should address other permit issues and complaints.

I get a kick out of all you "not in my backyarders" Ethanol is a great renewable resource and it has to be made somewhere.....no matter where the people around it wont be happy. Ethanol is a good thing, get over it. Just like all the people against offshore drilling yet some of the largest oil reserves lie 50 miles from our coast but america's "not in my back yard" philosophy costs us billions upon billions of dollars. Ethanol is great and we need more plants, do i necessarily like the occasional smell in my back yard? I can deal with it...

Thanks to the DNR for listening to the people who live in the area. :-( It is disheartening that the average man has nothing to say against big money. Are we to assume that all violations that did not come from the present RTO have been made right. I would hope (but am not holding my breath) that when the new RTO is installed if there are still violations they will be shut down until they come under compliance in all ways. I don't live by the plant but still consider those who do to be good neighbors.....they have followed the laws that apply to them....now it's time for United Ethanol to do the same.

HA! Take that Iraq!!! I am praying this all pans out. Because it is a certainty that OIL IS GOING TO RUN OUT someday, maybe not for many decades, but it will. And we do need to be pro-active. I just hope we are responsible about this. Good luck.
