Edgerton High to lose block schedule
Edgerton High School will switch from a four-period block schedule to a traditional eight-period schedule in 2010-11 under a plan approved by the school board Monday.
Associate Principal Clark Bretthauer presented the plan to switch to an eight-period day and lower graduation requirements to make up for staff cuts the school will have to make over the next four years. The school could have to cut a third of its teaching staff to make up for dropping enrollment and state aid.
In the eight-period day, students will be required to take study halls, which don't exist at Edgerton High School now. Teachers will receive 44-minute prep periods instead of 88-minute ones.
