City Council to consider Monterey Stadium ramp
From the WCLO newsroom:
The City of Janesville and School District of Janesville are working together to design an accessibility ramp at Monterey Stadium.
City Engineer Jack Messer says he's reviewed the plans and ensure they meet ADA requirements and the quality of construction that would go along with a city-owned facility.
The school district leases the stadium from the city. School district Director of Business Services Doug Bunton says by putting the ramp on the south half of the stadium, it would allow students to sit with students. Toward the middle of the stadium, adults could sit with other adults. Currently those in wheelchairs sit on the track in front of the other fans.
Construction of the ramp is underway, and the ramp should be complete later in the football season. Bunton says the construction won't interfere with the football games.
The school district is asking the city for $37,500, which is half the cost of the project. The city council considers the request Monday.

I think Mainstreet was using that rhetorical device we so rarely find online known as sarcasm.

As a person with a disability who often been to Monterey Stadium and not been able to sit up in the stands with others, I just want to say thank you. While a ramp may seem like a simple gesture, it runs much deeper. This ramp will gives those who are in wheelchairs the ability to sit in the stands with their friends and family rather then alone and separated from the group in the track area. People with disabilities often feel isolated and this ramp is will let them be a part of the group. So again, thank you :)

I am all for the idea of the ramp, but isn't $75,000.00 a little much for a ramp? Maybe it's just me

Yes, because people are being permanently injured every day already without a tunnel? Stick to the facts please, Mainstreet.

Now this is one expenditure I hope the City Council backs 100 percent. It is likely long overdue.
