City announces manager candidates
The city of Janesville will consider six candidates in its second round of interviews for the position of city manager, said Amy Loasching, council president. They are:
-Gary Dumas, director of operations in Fayetteville, Ark.
-Eric Levitt, city manager in Sedona, Ariz.
-Phillip Nelson, city manager in Troy, Mich.
-James Payne, city manager in Rio Rancho, N.M.
-Susan Robertson, village manager in Fox Point, Wis.
-Kenneth Witt, city administrator in Sparta, Wis.

I don't care if the candidate is male or female; black, white, brown, red, or plaid; I care that s/he is qualified for the job. Gender or race alone does not make any one candidate more or less qualified. What is on their resume...that is what matters.

If the Sedona guy gets the job it would be a big change for him. Going from a wealthy town to one that's unemployment rate is about to jump.

Nationally, just 7% of city managers are women. That means the candidate pool is smaller.

I would really like to see a lady serve as city manager. Its time to say good bye to the "good old boys" days. I believe a lady would serve this community well.
