UW System wants expansion funding
MADISON — UW System President Kevin Reilly said he’ll ask taxpayers to invest more to continue plans to produce more college graduates.
Reilly is recommending the system ask the Legislature and Gov. Jim Doyle for $37.5 million in tax money and $13.4 million in student fees to support the so-called Growth Agenda through 2011.
The system received $21.4 million this year for the plan to begin expanding enrollment on some campuses and produce more graduates in high-demand fields such as nursing.
Reilly says he’ll ask the Board of Regents to sign off on his request for the next two-year budget next week. Lawmakers wouldn't act on the request until the state budget is approved next year.

But I think what they're trying to get us to believe is that we would have it if we all graduated from college.

Sure wish local, county, state and federal governments would quit spending money we don't have.

"UW System President Kevin Reilly said he’ll ask taxpayers to invest more to continue plans to produce more college graduates."
.
And just how will this benefit the taxpayers?
.
Has anyone read the articles lamenting the mass exodus of "college graduates" to points beyond Wisconsin?
.
Why should Wisconsin taxpayer's be burdened with the expense of educating the shining stars of other states?

There needs to be a spending freeze on everything. Before legislatures and elected officials start doing things that cost money they better get jobs for those without jobs now or getting laid off in the future....anyone who approves spending right now needs to be remember at election time and then the PEOPLE need to vote them out.....
