City opens boat launches
Two of Janesville’s boat launches will reopen Saturday and another one in a week. The boat launches were closed due to the June flood. Riverside and the Rock River Parkway boat launch will open Saturday. The Traxler Park boat launch will open Saturday, Aug. 23. The North Traxler Park boat launch opened Aug. 11. Prior to opening the launches, the concrete ramps, piers and support columns must be inspected and repaired, according to a news release from the city. Employees must inspect the underwater area to remove debris so boats and trailers are not damaged. And, some dredging may be needed because the floodwaters deposited silt along the shoreline. For more information, call the parks department at 755-3025.

Pwrtrip, Being a person in Janesville who uses those boat launches, I'm glad to see that the city is making sure that they are safe to use. With all of the damage done to the city these boat launches really could have been the last things for them to worry about. I think that they are doing a wonderful job!! Kudos to all of the workers!!
