Edgerton school levy could drop
An early budget estimate for the Edgerton School District shows its levy and tax rate dropping in 2008-09 despite the budget crunch the district finds itself in.
A handful of residents and staff members, along with the Edgerton School Board, approved the preliminary budget at the annual meeting tonight.
The budget showed a 1.2 percent drop in tax levy and a 6.8 percent drop in tax rate. The reason for the drop is an expected increase in state funding. The district is limited by how much it can increase revenue, so if state aid increases, potential tax levy must decrease.
