From the WCLO Newsroom:

Rock County's unemployment rate is slightly lower than it was one year ago.

The state Department of Workforce Development says unemployment rates by county mainly decreased in March. In Rock County, 6.2 percent of the labor force was unemployed, compared to 6.4 percent a year ago.

Unemployment in Beloit is up from last year from 8.8 percent to 9.1 percent. In Janesville it has decreased from 6.5 percent to 6.3 percent.

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman says the state's labor market saw steady improvement last month as unemployment rates across the state declined from February.
