JEFFERSON—A block grant and tax credits will mean 20 more jobs in Jefferson.

Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is getting $100,000 in enterprise development zone tax credits and $30,000 in a community block training grant for an expansion of its plant in Jefferson, according to a news release from Gov. Jim Doyle’s office.

“We’re pleased that this project will allow us to better serve our customers as well as meet the increased demand for products made at our facility,” Purina plant manager Kirk Lawrence said in the news release.

The Jefferson plant makes pet food. The expansion will include a new product line, equipment and a warehouse addition.

The company will train more than 107 employees. The project is expected to create more than 20 jobs over the next five years and represents $20 million to $40 million in new investments.
