Ex-Madison official sentenced to 1 year in prison
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The first director of Madison’s landmark arts venue has been sentenced to one year in prison for running private businesses out of his city office and evading taxes.
U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb told Robert D’Angelo that his actions breached the public trust and undermined the U.S. tax system.
D’Angelo was director of the Overture Center for the Arts. He had already pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of filing a false income tax return.
Crabb ordered D’Angelo to report next month to serve a one-year prison term, which was at the low end of the federal guidelines.
Federal prosecutors had sought up to 18 months in prison, the high end of the range, but Crabb says a shorter term is appropriate.

How so? Is the former AD an accomplice? Or do you suspect a genetic conspiracy?
