WHITEWATER--Heat and hot water could return as early as Sunday after a boiler explosion at UW-Whitewater knocked out the campus steam system.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the explosion that happened around noon Wednesday. No official cause of the blast has been determined. Cleanup work has begun, and the power plant will be inspected Thursday afternoon.

University officials hope to reopen Esker Dining Hall by noon Friday. Until the dining hall is reopened, extended hours of service will be offered at Drumlin Dining Hall and the James R. Connor University Center.

More information will be released on the university Web site as it becomes available.
