PITTSVILLE, Wis. (AP) – An 8-year-old boy who was rescued from a fire last week has died from his injuries. Authorities say investigations indicate the boy, Mason Stascak, set the fire at his family’s home on Sunday. The boy had been in critical condition at the University Hospital in Madison when he died on Thursday. Family friend Jake Ignatowski says the family had been hopeful earlier in the week but they learned the boy probably wouldn’t make it. Ignatowski says the boy’s parents asked that his organs be donated so his death would help others. Mason was the third child to die from a fire in the area in a week. Two sisters – 3-year-old Quinta Frenn and 1-year-old Lattie Frenn died in a fire that injured five others in a town of Seif home on Sunday. Authorities say that fire was started by other children.

How incredibly sad. Parents, please take time this weekend to teach your children that fire is nothing to play with.
