Supreme Court Chief Justice next one up for re-election
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Conservative interest groups may be emboldened by back-to-back victories in Wisconsin Supreme Court races, but they will have to knock off an institution to make it three in a row.
Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson is up for re-election next year. She has been on the court for 32 years and chief justice for 12. She's also viewed as the court's most liberal member.
Marquette University law professor Janine Geske is a former justice. She says the special interest groups that spent millions of dollars in recent elections may find the next race more difficult.
Geske says Abrahamson is very well known and respected statewide and it might be hard to find a candidate to run against her.
But University of Wisconsin-Madison political science professor Barry Burden says it's unlikely that special interest groups will back off now that they've tasted success.

She should call it a career and retire and really have a fight.

Might as well just get it over with and put the position on eBay.
