Rock County officials prepare for federal disaster aid
A meeting with officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will help Rock County with their application for disaster assistance.
Assistant County Administrator Phil Boutwell says the fed will help pay for the response to a February snow storm in which hundreds of motorists were stranded on I-90 in Rock and Dane Counties.
Boutwell says a number of county agencies were involved in the effort to rescue motorists and to clear snow. The county knows what the snow storm cost them, but the meeting will help determine exactly how much of that the fed will cover.
Rock, Jefferson, and Walworth County officials will be meeting representatives from FEMA at Whitewater Thursday morning.
