Flood emergency in Kenosha Co.
KENOSHA – Kenosha County officials have declared a state of emergency as the Fox River continues to rise.
County officials are urging people who live in low-lying areas along the river in the townships of Wheatland and Salem and the Village of Silver Lake to evacuate.
County Emergency Management Director Ben Schliesman says water could enter about 70 homes in the three municipalities by tomorrow. He says flooding could include swift currents that could pose extreme danger to residents and rescuers.
The river is expected to crest at 13.1 feet early Thursday morning. Flood stage is 10 feet.
